VGLS is pleased to offer a range of information sessions online via Microsoft Teams.
As the coronavirus (COVID-19) forced the VPS to work remotely, the VGLS fast tracked its development of delivering sessions remotely and the program below allows you to sign up for all our popular training as well as new sessions.

Program 1 Webinars - Introduction to Online Library Services
This Microsoft Teams webinar provides an overview of the Library Website - how to register, navigate the site, use the catalogue, request loans and research services and access resources. This session is hosted on Microsoft Teams.
Audience: New or infrequent users of the Library.
Duration: 1 Hour
Program 2 Webinars - Search Strategies
This MS Teams session covers the literature search workflow, techniques to discover evidence-based information, preparing for the search, and then performing it using the authoritative online resources.
Audience: It is recommended that you are familiar with using the library’s resources or have attended an Introduction to Online Library Services session.
Duration: 1 Hour
Program 3 Webinar - Finding Online Newspaper Articles
This MS Teams session will show you how to: Search and find online current and archived newspaper articles from the major Victorian and Australian newspapers.
Audience: It is recommended that you are familiar with using the library’s resources or have attended an Introduction to Online Library Services session.
Duration: 1 Hour
Program 4 Webinars - Introduction to EndNote
This MS Teams session will show how to:
- Discover Endnote - a reference tool that allows you to automatically create & manage bibliographic citations to download to your documents and publications. This tool is suited to those who write policy; prepare publications or are studying.
- Technical Requirements: Contact your IT department to ensure you have access to Endnote version X.7 or higher.
Audience: New or infrequent users of Endnote. It is recommended that you are familiar with using the library’s resources or have attended an Introduction to Online Library Services session

Program 5 Webinars - Legal Sessions
Finding Caselaw
This MS Teams session will enable you to:
- locate a case with a citation or party name;
- find case law on a particular topic, act or section of an act;
- identify and locate the authorised version of a case &
- find judicial consideration of cases, words and phrases.
- This session constitutes one CPD point
Audience: VPS staff employed in a legal capacity with a working knowledge of the law. It is recommended that you are familiar with using the Library service.
Duration: 1 Hour
Program 6 Webinars - Finding Legislation
This MS Teams session will enable you to:
- search and find Victorian legislation;
- locate historical and point-in-time legislation &
- identify key legislation resources.
- This session constitutes one CPD point

Program 7 Webinars - Searching Government Gazettes
This MS Teams session will enable you to:
- Identify the online platforms for searching Government Gazettes;
- Outline what the gazettes publish and why this may be important to your research &
- Execute accurate search functions in order to locate information quickly and efficiently.

- Find annotated versions of important acts that provide a narrative on a legal area of concern.
