Summary:
This report summarises the results of research into the economic impact of hunting. The study was commissioned by the Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) and undertaken by RMCG, EconSearch and DBM Consultants. Hunting expenditure is influenced by hunter effort, which in turn is influenced by seasonal conditions. The research investigates hunting-related expenditure in 2013, which was an average year in terms of game species populations and hunter success, and thus is also likely to be an average year for expenditure. Through the course of the project, data was also collected on the social impact of hunting. While there is some analysis in this report, detailed analysis of the social data was not within the scope of this project and there are opportunities for further analysis at a later date.

Summary:
The many factors that lead to supply interruptions to Victorian homes and businesses on 16 January 2007 are much clearer in hindsight than they were to people directly involved at the time. This account has been constructed from information provided with considerable effort by many organisations. The review team thanks all stakeholders that so willingly shared their information in support of the common goal of learning from the incident so the risk and impact of future similar events can be reduced.

Summary:
Chemicals used to treat locusts can be harmful and sometimes lethal to honeybees. Bees on private agricultural land and bees located in, or on the edges of public land, particularly in the locust affected areas are vulnerable. The Government urges all beekeepers to move their hives away from areas where chemical treatment of locusts is planned. This document outlines the protection plan for honeybees in Victoria for Spring 2010.

Summary:
Two key Victorian Government investments in Victoria's north east region are projects titled: 'Targeted Biolinks in the North East' and 'North East Mega Murray Flagship' (the Parent Projects). They have attracted an investment of 5 million dollars over three financial years, from 2010-11 to 2012-13. The purpose of the Parent Projects is to protect, enhance and restore ecosystem resilience and connectivity of priority terrestrial and aquatic assets. A significant evaluation has been commissioned by the 'Parent Projects' Steering Committee and this report presents a summary of the methodology, results and conclusion.

Summary:
The Victorian Department of Primary Industries engaged the Fenner School of Environment and Society of the Australian National University to study socioeconomic characteristics of the industry. The employment, spending and production generated by Victoria’s forest industry, socio-economic characteristics of workers in the industry, and the communities that depend on the industry were examined via a survey of forest industry businesses and analysis of available statistical data on the industry. This report, and an associated report by Coakes Consulting, provide a considerably more detailed understanding of the Victorian forest industry than has been available to date.

To move toward a low carbon future we need to develop new energy sources and use current sources in a more sustainable way. We will need to change how and where our energy is generated, and how we use it. Wind energy will see the greatest growth over the next ten years, but solar energy could be set to follow as costs come down.

Summary:
To move toward a low carbon future we need to develop new energy sources and use current sources in a more sustainable way. We will need to change how and where our energy is generated, and how we use it. Geothermal offers great potential as a source of baseload renewable energy. But we need to find out more about the resource and technologies suited for Victoria.

Summary:
To move toward a low carbon future we need to develop new energy sources and use current sources in a more sustainable way. We will need to change how and where our energy is generated, and how we use it. Historically, hydroelectricity was our major source of renewable energy. It can ‘store’ power but its potential to grow is limited.

Summary:
Global demand for oil is rising while supplies are ultimately limited and greenhouse gas emissions from our oil dependent transport system continue to rise. Electric cars could help to address these challenges. They are quiet, efficient and produce no tailpipe emissions. As our electricity becomes cleaner they could become a major part of a low carbon transport system.

Summary:
To move toward a low carbon future we need to develop new energy sources and use current sources in a more sustainable way. We will need to change how and where our energy is generated, and how we use it. The oceans hold massive amounts of energy. If we can efficiently capture that energy marine power could supply part of our long term power needs.

Summary:
As we move toward a low carbon future we need to develop new energy sources and use current sources in a more sustainable way. We will need to change how and where our energy is generated, and how we use it. Using more diverse and dispersed electricity sources will require a smarter electricity grid. Better information from a smarter system will also help us save energy

Summary:
In Victoria more than 120 plant species have been proclaimed as noxious weeds under the Catchment and Land Protection (CaLP) Act 1994. These plants have the potential to cause harm and have environmental, economic and health impacts. It is illegal to buy, sell, possess for sale, deposit onto land, display, plant, propagate, bring into or transport around Victoria any of these declared noxious weeds. A current list of declared noxious weeds is available on the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) website www.dpi.vic.gov.au/weeds.
