General Note:
(Reference Abstract -- Abstract ) The Golden Point Reservoir is a small one used to maintain adequate pressure to certain parts of the supply system. It is partly fed by a high water race from the main Castlemaine race. The SRWSC is concerned at contamination of this reservoir by mud from slate quarrying in the catchment. There has been some previous quarrying illegally. An excavation 6 yds wide 20 yds long and with a face of 20 to 25 ft in height is present. According to local slate miners mud from this illegal excavation, now of course stopped, caused some contamination of the Golden Point Reservoir with mud.
